I have met some of my dearest friends in this life because I had a gut feeling and I followed it. I was biking NYC on a day off and I felt like a beer. I stopped into my favorite Irish bar and met an amazing woman who I have been friends with for years.
I saw it was volunteer week and noticed the local food bank was not too far from where I live. I called up the supervisor and she said to come right in. It was a bit intimidating going alone but I ended up meeting an amazing group volunteering for their company. We have been friends for over 2 years now! And one of them is my dearest confidant!
I went to a release party I was invited to by myself. It was short notice and my date couldn't go. I went anyway. I met an amazing director there who is now collaborating with me on a documentary film I have been working on. I could go on and on.
In other words, there are no rules and restrictions as to who and what you do anything with. Don't forget you have your greatest gift standing on your own two feet. Shoulders back, head up, smile, and bless the world with what you have to offer. You never know who is waiting for you on the other end of your adventure. Say yes, listen to your gut, and just do it. If you want to talk to someone, talk to someone.
Ladies, this is for you. You can walk into a bar alone, have a glass of wine, talk to a few locals, and leave. I have a boyfriend but I do this all the time. I love meeting new people and talking about life. This is life. Embrace yours. Go have a terrific Thursday and if you want a glass of wine, have a glass of wine! To your health! <3
