The Locker: UnlockedSo I think most of you know at this point that I live in New York City. One of the things I love most of the city is that its energy seems to put you right where you need to be. Synchronicity has blessed me often. So, "The Locker: Unlocked", is a true story about just that.
I had some time to myself in the middle of Manhattan. I have been battling a virus that has stiffened my chest and had been craving a steam bath, so I was on the lookout for a day pass to a gym. I found my sauna but didn't have a lock for my locker. The locker I put my belongings in was right outside the sauna room, and my intuition said it would be o.k. There were also plenty of women around. I blessed my locker with safety ;) and left it behind. I came out of the steam room to "check" on my belongings and there was a women sitting directly in front of my locker on the bench, leaning on my locker. I asked her to excuse me while I peeked inside. She politely moved, smiled, and then resumed her position with my locker door as her post (while texting on her cell phone). After a few more minutes in the sauna, I walked back to my locker and looked at this woman again leaning up against my locker. I KNEW HER! She knew me! We were completely taken back by the coincidence. Out of the whole locker room (which was huge) there she sat in front of MY locker! What are the odds? I believe people are put in our paths for a reason and reappear just when you need. :) My locker, unlocked, was protected. Trust your intuitions ladies. It may just keep you safe and reconnect you with old friends! NYC LOVE! ***Disclaimer: It is always best to lock your locker. Do not try this without your intuition!*** ![]() Three things you cant get back: words, moments, and time. How does one "count" the moments? I like to focus on being present for the moments instead (Women please especially take note as we multitask usually very well). There is no better feeling than actually living in your life. So, take a moment today to consciously choose to be present. You do have control. You do have power. Start by recognizing your own awareness. And this is one of the best stress busters out there! Our thoughts embed in our bodies and our cells remember. Train your body well and give it something to be happy about. Anything is possible. Choices exist. I heard on a space film today that we are merely dust from exploded stars. If this is the case, we are meant to shine! Believe in possibilities. DIY: Write down 2 things you are meant to do in this lifetime. If we are merely stardust, isn't that exciting and in some way explains the unique and complex nature of every individual human being. Kinda takes the pressure off. I like that feeling. Accept your unique and complex nature...."lighten up" literally, for it just may be our true being. ;) To You Health...
![]() Great Thigh Workout! My most resistant area to shape up on my body are my thighs! Being a sprinter and basketball player for a good chunk of my life, I knew I would always have muscle in this area but keeping it toned was another story. I have found specific exercises to target the muscles on the outer thigh, inner thigh, and buttocks that are very effective. In addition to at least 20 minutes of cardiovascular exercise 5 times a week, these are the exercises that help me stay toned: 1. Side jumps: Jump back and forth laterally with your feet together for 1 minute. Soft knees and easy landing. Repeat twice. 2. Lateral leg raises. Standing, raise your leg laterally. Hold at the top and lower slowly. 20 reps. Switch legs. Repeat 1-2 times. 3. Leg circles. Lay on your back. Raise one leg into the air and trace a small circle with your foot. Clockwise for 10 reps then repeat counterclockwise for 10. Switch to the other leg. Repeat 1-2 times. 4. Squats. I think you know what these are. Make sure to stick your rear out to keep your back flat and push up through your heels. This will target the back of the leg and buttocks most effectively. 12 reps. Repeat 3 times. 5. Reverse Lunges. Stand with feet shoulder width apart. Step back with one foot and and lunge into the front leg. Keep you knee over your foot and practice good technique as to not pressure the knee. 12 reps. Switch legs. Repeat 1-2 times. Toning is an essential part of a physical regimen. We each have that area on our bodies where fat is more readily stored depending upon your body type. Recognize this and target toning exercises to work this area a little more than the rest. Know your body to best take care of it. For women, it is healthy and natural to store added fat on the thighs; Much more than on the stomach. Added cushion at the thigh area is often a sign of balanced hormones for a woman. Embrace your body and know where to target just a little bit more than the rest. Hope this helps! Empowered, Individualized Choices...To your health! You are not defined by a job nor are you defined by perception. Follow all your interests and detours in your path; and trust me you will come up more complete than yesterday. I had a photo shoot today for my agency. I dabble in fit/print modeling and though it is hard work and a challenge (beyond what most think), I have become more balanced because of it. I don't put myself in a box. Don't let others or yourself either. Living life and saying YES! Mind, body, and spirit. Trust the process. Love and light....to your health!
![]() I had a young woman tell me she was scared to go back to her doctor after experiencing an allergic reaction in my pharmacy. I asked her why and she said that she didn't want to be a pain. If you feel this then maybe you need to switch primary care physicians. Secondly, if you feel this, please examine why. A kind physician will empower you but the real power exists WITHIN! People will inevitable treat you how you treat yourself. You deserve care, quality, and respect. Everyone is worth it! Life isn't meant to be easy, its meant to give you opportunity to grow. Accept the challenge! My beautiful patient did go back to her doctor and felt great after doing so. She left me smiling (even with a rash covering her arms and face). Harm avoided and no harm done by going back. To all those single young women out there: You have all you need WITHIN. To people everywhere: YOU are worth it! “Your self-worth has nothing to do with your craft or calling and everything to do with how you treat yourself.”—Kris Carr Do you take oral contraceptives? If so, do you know that there are several medications that can decrease the effectiveness of birth control? I've found that many do not, even when this prescription comes from the same doctor. Please be sure to ask your pharmacist! (And read your patient information leaflets!)
"Cheerfulness and contentment are great beautifiers and are famous preservers of youthful good looks". ---Charles Dickens
Oral contraceptives rob your body of essential minerals and vitamin B. If you take an oral contraceptive you may want to consider taking a probiotic, vitamin B's, and essential minerals like magnesium; in addition to eating antioxidant rich foods. When your body becomes mineral deficient, it may falsely increase your risk for other medications: thyroid meds, antidepressants, anti-anxiety meds, cardiovascular meds. If you understand how oral contraceptives work in your body you will then understand how you can optimally maintain your own health. A bit of information you may find useful. To your health!
Women, we are needed now more than ever. Your feminine energy will spread. The masculine energy needs us. There is too much violence and not enough heart. At least, what is portrayed in the terrible incidents that have happened with increasing frequency.
Woman must not accept; she must challenge. She must not be awed by that which has been built up around her; she must reverence that woman in her which struggles for expression. ~ Margaret Sanger ~ Rise up women and embrace your feminine (and masculine) energies. Help spread compassion, peace, balance, and love. Women are powerful beyond their belief. Back to the basics. Let's restore Balance in this world. Peace, Love, and Hope! ![]() My strong, vibrant, diverse, kind, and loyal SISTERS! Find those women in your life that inspire you to live with kindness and compassion. Find those women in your life whom offer you their hearts and minds; and those that teach and inspire you to be a better person. On this very special day, I celebrate a few of the very special women in my life. Without the sisterhood, my foundation would be incomplete. Women need women to be women. Don't forget the people you are blessed to call family and give thanks for those that you have chosen as family. To all the sisters out there, cheers to another day! One of the most common questions I am asked at the pharmacy by young women is "what can I take for anxiety that is natural?". There are options. People do ask. Listen to you body. You are not the only one. Simple diet and lifestyle changes can make a big difference. Then if you still require medication, at least you have explored your options. Anxiety medications can have side effects, drug interactions, dependency, and contraindications. Know what you are putting in your body. More to come...
