![]() Lets make some changes that affect others as well. See beyond exercise, food, and external issues; and just maybe the pieces will fall into place. Start with basics of loving more, listening more, helping more, and life becomes easier. Attitude is everything! How will you start 2013? Be present and let's see what happens. All the best to all of you! I speak to everyone in the same way, whether he is the garbage man or the president of the university.--Albert Einstein "While lifestyle changes can really help bring your cholesterol down, Wong says that not enough people give them a real chance." (Nathan D. Wong, PhD, director of the heart disease prevention program at the University of California, Irving)
"The problem is that both patients and their doctors like immediate results," he tells WebMD. "Lowering your cholesterol with exercise and diet is just not like that."----'High Cholesterol Treatment -- What Works? Safe, effective treatment for high cholesterol isn't hard -- but it can be confusing. Get the facts.' WebMD Feature ______________________________________ Do you ask your doctor about diet and lifestyle changes when a medication is prescribed for you? There are options. Your doctor will discuss the risks and benefits with you. Just ask. Many need "a pill" and many don't. Look at the big picture, be patient, and see beyond the quick fix. Most indications include diet and lifestyle as treatment options before medication or in conjunction. Cholesterol is just one example. Do you feel better once you talk it out? Is the body free when the mind is at peace?
I saw a friend today who has been experiencing excruciating back pain lately. Today he looked, sounded, and felt 100% better. I asked what happened? He said he doesn't know but since the day we talked he hasn't needed pain medications and he doesn't know why (as he smiled!). That day we spoke I just listened while he described his intense frustrations and how he saw this pain negatively affecting his life. I offered optimistic feedback and encouragement but basically allowed him to express himself. Do you think purging negative feelings, expressing himself, and ultimately listening to his own words, healed his mind and body? I think it helped. Listening and communicating is one of the most vital human arts. Express yourself and most importantly be there to listen. You may just change a life. We all have the potential to heal and what a world it would be if we offered our hearts as well as our minds...And sometimes that simply involves listening. Don't you JUST want someone to listen sometimes? This is the body talking to the mind. Your body knows what it needs. Our gifts are all right here. Much love and listening! |
