Don't forget to breathe :)

We underestimate the simple act of breathing and the benefits of the oxygen. Take ten deep breaths right now with a conscious awareness. Breathe in through your nose and our through your mouth. Focus only on your breath. How do you feel? We have more control over our mind, body, and spirit then we give ourselves credit for.

The next time you feel a little unbalanced or need a little extra energy, take a few deep breaths. The simple gifts we can give ouselves.

A simple goal for Thursday 4/11: Pick at least one spice from the list below and add to your food or drink. All of the spices listed aid in heart health and benefit circulation. Blood flow and metabolism will benefit and an anti-inflammatory effect may be seen.

Incorporate more plant based foods into your diet. Foods with a rainbow of color. These colors heal our bodies and provide the vital nutrients we need to optimally function. Heart health and circulation depend upon proper fuel.  Make a smoothie of beet, kale, lemon, celery, and cucumber; drink it, and notice your energy. You are flooding your cells with oxygen. Take a brisk 20 minute walk soon after to get your blood pumping! Circulation for longevity!

Most of my diet consists of fresh fruits and vegetables. Make the shift. I just watched the documentary, "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead". Take a look and you will see what I'm talking about! I had a photo shoot today for my agency. I dabble in fit/print modeling and though it is hard work and a challenge (beyond what most think), I have become more balanced because of it. I don't put myself in a box. Don't let others or yourself either. Living life and saying YES! Mind, body, and spirit. Trust the process. Love and light....to your health!

I had a young woman tell me she was scared to go back to her doctor after experiencing an allergic reaction in my pharmacy.  I asked her why and she said that she didn't want to be a pain.  

If you feel this then maybe you need to switch primary care physicians. Secondly, if you feel this, please examine why.  A kind physician will empower you but the real power exists WITHIN! People will inevitable treat you how you treat yourself.  You deserve care, quality, and respect.  Everyone is worth it!  Life isn't meant to be easy, its meant to give you opportunity to grow. Accept the challenge!  My beautiful patient did go back to her doctor and felt great after doing so.  She left me smiling (even with a rash covering her arms and face).  Harm avoided and no harm done by going back. 

To all those single young women out there: You have all you need WITHIN.  To people everywhere: YOU are worth it!

Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is the most stable oil of any known oil/butter at high temperatures. Coconut oil does not form trans-fatty acids unlike butter, margarine, olive oil, canola oil, corn oil, etc when heated. Trans-fatty acids can suppress thyroid function and metabolism; and create oxidative stress in the body leading to wrinkles and heart conditions to name a couple. Who wants any of that? I solely use coconut oil to cook with and include raw in my diet as often as i can. Coconut oil also outperforms olive oil in lowering cholesterol. Coconut oil actually stimulates the thyroid which then regulates our cholesterol appropriately. Use coconut oil that is cold pressed and found in dark glass bottles. Like most oils, coconut oil is light sensitive. Make a change today. Include coconut oil and butter in your life! Coconut oil for a multitude of positive effects in your body...and subsequently mind! Its not the clearest picture but you get the idea. Today is about cardiovascular health. Today is about LOVE. 

I was sitting in the park for a few minutes late afternoon and I hear the loud voice of a male at the corner of the park talking to some of the park workers.  I was at first concerned but realized that the man was loud because he was happy. He was wishing the workers well and talking about the holidays. His dog, Lucy, was walking ahead of him with her bag full of treats. She stopped to see where he was and patiently waited for him to finish talking. He saw us sitting on the bench and came over to say hello. He had an Italian accent and boy did he have a zest for life. He spoke of Lucy like she was his sidekick. At one point, when Lucy was too far ahead, he yelled, "wait up", looked at us and said "geez, kids these days".  Lucy responded to him like she was his child. This man loves Lucy. This man loves people. This man loves life.  He had his fried calamari, cigar in hand , and Lucy out front with her paper bag.  What a pair!  What heart!  What passion for living! This man spreads love wherever he goes and with whomever he meets. A shining example for all of us.  From this point on, I will look for Lucy and the man,whose name I didn't get.  They make me feel alive and full of LOVE. Thank you Mr. Man and Lucy. :) Moments that fill your heart with love  <3
